Happy July! We are winding down summer here and it has been a great one! Our girl gang (and one awesome husband) took a dream vacation to Rome and the Greek Isles. We ate all the gelato and drank all the aperol spritz and will be cooking at home for the foreseeable future. One of my favorite restaurant dupes to make at home on the blackstone is Hibachi. It is a little hot to grill outside here in Florida but if you are anywhere else, now is the time!

Hibachi at Home

This isnt so much a specific recipe so much but more a loose list of steps. This is my families favorite ingredients but the blackstone is also a great vessel to cook any leftover meat and vegies you have around and serve over rice.

Easy Fried Rice

First up, lets make some fried rice. For my family of 5, I boil up 2 cups of rice on the stove. I generally do 2.5 water to rice but you do do boo. I try to make the rice earlier in the day so it can dry out a bit and not be so hot. I dont always remember but this is also a great use for leftover white rice.

Enter the blackstone grill to turn this from regular white rice to fried rice. On high heat, I add vegetable oil and then scramble up a couple eggs. More oil and then throw the cooked rice on top and a bunch of soy sauce. How much you ask? Until its brown. Then I let it fry up while I start on the veggies and meat.

Hibachi Veggies and Honey Carrots

You can really use any veggies but my family prefers what they make at our local hibachi restaurant, zucchini and onions and honey carrots. Prep fresh zucchini and and onions by chunking up. For the carrots, you could use fresh but we love Green Giant Frozen Honey Carrots. I prep them with a minute in the microwave.

While your rice is cooking. add more oil to the blackstone and the veggies in 2 piles. Add Kinder;s Blend Seasoning to the zucchini mix and a few squirts of honey to the carrots.  Also, add a pat of butter to both. Once the zucchini has started browning, add a squirt of Kinder’s teriyaki sauce. Cook both until brown.

Hibachi Meat

You can really use any protein you have in your fridge but our family favorite is steak and scallops. I will also use chicken and shrimp if I have them. Regardless, I will chunk up the chicken and steak and keep the scallops and peeled shrimp whole. On a hot blackstone, I add oil, the meat, kinder blends seasoning, butter, and teriyaki sauce. If I’m cooking chicken, I will put it on at the same time as the veggies. For all the other proteins, I wait until everything is almost done to just sear them.

Serving Up Hibachi

Once everything is finished grilling, the fun begins. My family can make their perfect bowl with the fried rice, meat, and veggies but the is Mokotos Seafood Sauce on top. They sell it in the seafood section at Publix and is the yum yum sauce you get in a hibachi restaurant. So delicious!
